In Virtual Responder, you play through the career of an EMT. Your goal is to use the skills and critical thinking associated with being an EMT in a high tension life-and-death situation. The game tells stories about first responders and the lives they save. These multiple levels of drama create engagement for the player and enforce appropriate real world constraints on learning the content.
BreakAway developed Virtual Responder in partnership with The National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (CRESST) and UCLA, with funding from DARPA – SBIR. Virtual Responder was created to build STEM skills on the high school and middle school level (for college prep), and to serve people without first response training in the Armed Services.
